The Sculptor

This is Beatrice Hoffman putting the finishing touches to a sculpture before it is cast in bronze. Eventually it will be displayed in the grounds of Northampton Hospital to welcome visitors and to highlight the need for organ donation. Beatrice was constantly moving around the sculpture, working on one side, then the next, all the while checking on how any changes affected the whole. After a while she reached up and rubbed a little clay into the face of one of the figures, she paused for a brief moment and it looked like she was bringing life to the piece with her touch. A perfect moment that I have chosen to depict.
